RoMo Junior Stereo Viewer

France, 1950s

Designed for children, the RoMo Junior stereoscope is the smallest in the RoMo 3D viewer family and the only one without an advance mechanism. The multi-pair stereo cards are manually pulled vertically through the viewer. The RoMo line was named after Robert Mouzillat who invented a camera, designed viewers, and created a large number of stereo images.

RoMo Graf Dole-Jura Stereo Viewer

This is the same RoMo Junior viewer but licensed and branded for the Graf Dole-Jura company, pioneers of Gruyère cheese and founded by the Graf brothers in 1917. We’ve only seen the viewer in blue. The cards are smaller than the standard RoMo Junior cards and have only 5 stereoviews. The colorful circular, cardboard advertisement shown below most likely was part of the packaging for a cheese item. It advertises that 55 vouchers will buy the stereoscope and 15 vouchers will buy a color stereofilm card. The reverse side advertises additional toy items, including their promotional camera, which can still occasionally comes up for sale.
