Rotoscope Folding Stereoscopic Apparatus & Pocket Rotoscope

London, 1900s

The Rotary Photographic Co, Ltd, London produced two of these collapsible tin metal stereoscopic viewers under the patent #442342 - one large and one small. Both are designed to resemble a book shape when closed and typically the exterior paint and gold metal interiors on these vintage viewers have not stood the test of time and they’re difficult to find in good shape. Sometimes you’ll find that someone has done restoration in the form of repainting the gold interior, as is the case in our larger Rotoscope shown below. For the Pocket Rotoscope, although there are many miniature stereoviews from other makers that will work, it’s always nice to find ones marked “Pocket Rotoscope”. Below you’ll see several from their Actors & Actresses series.
